"Kiss and Make Up" is a collaboration song recorded by British singer-songwriter Dua Lipa and BLACKPINK. It was released on October 19, 2018, and it is a song in the album Dua Lipa: Complete Edition.
It is a bilingual dance track about trying to “Kiss and Make Up” before a relationship ends in a break up. This is the first time BLACKPINK has collaborated with an non-Korean artist. Built around the repetition of the titular phrase and thriving on the five women's addictive vocals, it features the four members of BLACKPINK ~ Jisoo, Rosé, Lisa, and Jennie -- as they weave Korean and English with Dua Lipa’s huskier tone.
It is the first time the two acts have worked together, and the first time BLACKPINK has been featured as a whole on another artist’s album.
Background[]
On May 6, 2018, while in South Korea for her concert in Seoul, Dua Lipa met up with Jennie and Lisa.
The meet up happened ahead of Dua Lipa’s performance at Yes 24 Live Hall, located in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. The concert marked the singer’s first solo show in the country following her performance at Pentaport Rock Festival last year.
After the concert, when Dua contacted BLACKPINK asking them if they would like to collaborate with her, they accepted and she sent them the song. They recorded the song, changing some parts into Korean.
